"One Boy USO" Becomes a Published Author at Age Nine
PRLog (Press Release) – Apr 17, 2012 –
ATLANTA, Georgia, April 17, 2012 – Cody Jackson, known across America as the One Boy USO, is finalizing a children’s book called Pint-Sized Patriots: Coloring and Activity Book. The book is available for prerelease orders during April, the month of the military child, and will be released on May 15. Cody became popular across America after being featured on CNN, Fox News, CBS, and NBC for thanking over 10,000 troops at the Atlanta airport. Cody is now proud to share his patriotism and gratitude for US soldiers with other children in the shape of fun children’s books.
Cody’s journey as the One Boy USO began when he was four, with a simple question: “Why is it so hard to get on an airplane?” Ever since the moment his parents tried to explain what happened on 9/11, Cody has wanted to do all he can to thank our military men and women. He regularly goes to the airport to salute troops returning home. As a way to thank more soldiers personally, Cody also collects donations to help fund care packages to ship to deployed troops. Cody says he wants to do this because “they’re risking their lives fighting for our freedom and our country.” Kelly Jackson, Cody’s mom, says “This was his idea, and it has grown into a tradition he wants to continue. Cody loves talking to the soldiers and seeing them light up when he thanks them for everything they do.”
After noticing the lack of patriotism in his peers, Cody wanted to let other kids know, “It’s okay to be patriotic! If I can do it, you can too.” He has written his children’s books to share his love of America and the military, and hopes to help other children love their country and troops as much as he does. Cody’s story is inspiring and his book offers pages of activities, including coloring pages, crossword puzzles, and fun facts, as it explains the history and significance of America. Cody wants to use his proceeds from the book sales to continue his quest as the One Boy USO and send more packages to soldiers overseas. Kelly Jackson says, “Not many adults grasp what we’re asking of our men and women in uniform, so it’s pretty amazing to have a child who is inspired to thank them as much as he can.”
Cody is also working on a story book that is due to be released later this summer. He will be doing a book tour including bookstores, military bases, and community events over the next several months. To learn more about Cody, visit his website at http://1boyuso.com/
